Description

This is a short but very steep hike to a rocky summit and an alpine meadow with a wonderful view of Diamond Peak. Numerous rock species bloom at the summit (N 43 44.780 W 122 34.623), but the real highlight is the large south meadow. From the summit, look for an unofficial trail heading south, and follow it for approximately 0.1 mile (to N 43 44.707 W 122 34.612). In addition to the terrific east-facing view, the meadow is carpeted with wildflowers.

Directions

Drive east on Highway 58 from I-5. Turn right onto Krueger Rock Road 5847 at Milepost 29 (just next to Shady Dell Campground). Continue 4.5 miles then turn left onto Road 549. Continue 3.2 miles to the trailhead (N 43 44.657 W 122 35.069). Parking is available on the right side of the road across from the trail.
