CommentsAlong the trail on the way in were a number of patches of low small larkspur, many patches of small-flowered blue-eyed Mary, lots of buttercups, and some chocolate lilies (not open yet). While ascending thru the oaks on the west side of Chatfield Hill there were abundant blooming buttercups amongst the much fewer blooming balsam-root, and some nice clumps of large clover. Further up the trail when you are out of the oaks, there were a few scattered lupin just beginning to bloom amongst the balsam-root which was just beginning to bloom, a few plants have full blooms, most are just budding out, the plants are on the small side, and that’s was the case both along the trail and on Chatfield Hill. On top of Chatefield Hill were scattered paintbrush, most just starting to bloom, except for one clump of super sized 3` blossoms (photos at web link above).
