Comments | Although the Grass Widows (Olsynium douglasii) are slightly past peak, they are still the dominant flower. Also in bloom: Salt & Pepper (Lomatium piperi), Western Saxifrage (Saxifraga occidentalis), Columbia Desert Parsley (Lomatium columbianum), Pungent Desert Parsley (Lomatium grayi), and Western Buttercup (Ranunculus occidentalis var. occidentalis).
Blooming above the arch are Grass Widows, the parsleys, Gold Stars (Crocidium multicaule), Yellow Bells (Fritillaria pudica), Desert Shooting Stars (Dodecatheon conjugens), Small-flowered Blue-eyed Mary (Collinsia parviflora), Small-flowered Prairie Star (Lithophragma parviflorum), Rigid Fiddleneck (Amsinckia retrorsa), Slender Popcorn Flower (Plagiobothrys tenellus), and False Agoseris (Nothocalais troximoides). Oaks Toothwort (Cardamine pulcherrima) blooming in the woods above the corral. |
