| Comments | Blooming now: lots of Panicled Death-Camas (Zigadenus paniculatus), Small-flowered Lupine (Lupinus micranthus), Small-flowered Blue-eyed Mary (Collinsia parviflora), Bicolored Cluster Lily (Brodiaea howellii), Small-flowered Prairie Star (Lithophragma parviflorum), Smooth Prairie Star (Lithophragma glabra), Western Buttercup (Ranunculus occidentalis), Upland Larkspur (Delphinium nuttallianum), Poet's Shooting Star (Dodecatheon poeticum), Pungent Desert Parsley (Lomatium grayi), Piper's Desert Parsley (Lomatium piperi), Bare-stem Desert Parsley (Lomatium nudicaule), Miner's Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata), Rigid Fiddleneck (Amsinckia retrorsa), Ball-Head Waterleaf (Hydrophyllum capitatum var. thompsonii), Columbia Gorge Lupine (Lupinus latifolius var. thompsonianus), Slender Popcorn Flower (Plagiobothrys tenellus), Midget Phlox (Phlox gracilis), and Big Root (Marah oreganus). One patch of Woolly-pod Milk-vetch (Astragalus purshii var. glareosus) seen blooming along the highest section of the trail. One patch of Great Hound's Tongue (Cynoglossum grande) blooming in the woods near the parking area. Some patches of Grass Widows (Olsynium douglasii) and Glacier Liles (Erythronium grandiflorum) still blooming at higher elevations, though well past peak.
WARNING: copious Poison Oak (Toxicodendron diversilobum) along the trail, particularly in the wooded area... watch your step! |
