| Comments | Did a two car shuttle with a friend so we could start at the Angels Rest trailhead and end at the Wahkeena trailhead. After Angels rest we went east towards Wahkeena then up the Foxglove Way trail and then the connector to Devils Rest then down east from there and north down the Wahkeena trail so about 9 miles. The larkspur early on is in its glory but not yet open in the upper areas. Did identify 62 different flowers. Lots of trillium still in the upper areas along with corydalis, vanilla leaf, oxalis, yellow violets and star flowers. Dogwoods are blooming nicely. Others of note were trailing blackberry, salmonberry, vetches, peas inside out, sitka valerian, fairy bells, twisted stalk, chickweed monkeyflower, prairie stars, bigroot, bronze bells, strawberry, wild ginger and several arnicas. Just before reaching the Wahkeena parking lot we spotted a white shooting star which we dont see often. |
