CommentsThere was still snow around and the trail around the lake was quite wet in places. Many flowers--carpets of subalpine buttercups, lots of shooting stars, marsh marigolds, grass of pernassus, paintbrush (just starting) and alpine laurel. I don't recall seeing alpine laurel before. My wife saw the resemblance to kalmia mountain laurel) which we have in our yard. The alpine laurel is only about six inches high.
