CommentsI am not sure that this is Oregon. It may have been right on the California border. Just a very small sign on the side of the road that said, Darlingtonia Botanical Trail. This is a nice stop if you are tired and need to stretch. Very easy trail and short too. You get to see what is called the Darlingtonia bog and it is covdered with these plants that look like they come from another planet. The Darlingtonia are "pitcher plants" in that they are shaped like pitchers and very odd looking. Bugs go through the pitcher handle and get trapped and this is how the plant feeds itself. We also saw an iris, but we don't know what kind exactly. This too was very beautiful. If you have never seen the Darlingtonias, they are a must see. You will be glad you stopped. Again, we were the only ones there. Sad.
