I made my first visit of the season to Dog Mountain, primarily to see the early bloomers: Dutchman`s breeches (Dicentra cucullaria); spring beauty (Claytonia lanceolata); and Western mountain kittentails (Veronica missurica ssp. stellata). I was ecstatic to see plenty of all three of these, as well as lots of other wildflowers. Absolutely zero balsamroot in bloom; even in a `normal` year that wouldn`t be worth seeing until mid-May at the earliest (and this is hardly a normal year). See my photo album in the OW Facebook group.
