Comments | Grass widows fading. Dutchman`s breeches on the old road on the west side of Catherine Creek north of the wooden bridge. Numerous robust blooming plants along west side of old road. Ballhead waterleaf and toothwort blooming in the same location as the Dutchman`s breeches. Yellowbells (fritillaria pudica) past their prime, but still appearing here and there. Naked Broomrape in many locations (more than I ever remember seeing here. Chocolate lilies in bud (maybe opening in a week); lots of them on the old roads west of Catherine Creek. Bighead clover leafed out in same areas as chocolate lilies, but no blossoms yet. Lewisia rediviva up in many gravelly areas, but no blossoms showing yet. Balsamroot just starting to bloom in various places. Camas just starting to open in moister areas. Mimulus guttatus -- many on the wet rocks lining the main highway east of the parking area. Smooth prairie stars -- isolated clumps in many locations. Erythronium species -- basal leaves showing in a few areas, but no blossoms yet. Bicolored cluster lilies -- a few just starting to bloom in the boardwalk area of the paved accesible trail south of the parking area. |
