Blooming now: Small-flowered Blue-eyed Mary <I>(Collinsia parviflora)</I>, Small-flowered Prairie Star <I>(Lithophragma parviflorum)</I>, Filaree <I>(Erodium cicutarium)</I>, Western Saxifrage <I>(Saxifraga occidentalis)</I>, Western Buttercup <I>(Ranunculus occidentalis)</I>, Yellow Bells <I>(Fritillaria pudica)</I>, Ball-Head Waterleaf <I>(Hydrophyllum capitatum </I>var.<I> thompsonii)</I>, Poet's Shooting Stars <I>(Dodecatheon poeticum)</I>, Pungent Desert Parsley <I>(Lomatium grayi)</I>, and my favorite... Dutchman's Breeches <I>(Dicentra cucullaria)</I> in their customary spot under the oaks to the left of the upper trail. <P> Common monkey flower <I>(Mimulus guttatus)</I> and clasping henbit <I>(Lamium amplexicaule)</I> are blooming in the rocks next to the creek above the waterfall. <P> Desert Shooting Stars <I>(Dodecatheon conjugens)</I> and Oaks Toothwort <I>(Cardamine pulcherrima)</I> are blooming in the forest above old corral. Rusty Popcorn Flower <I>(Plagiobothrys nothofulvus)</I> blooming beyond the power lines. Some Northwest Balsamroot <I>(Balsamorhiza deltoidea)</I> blooming on the cliffs north of the arch. <P> Grass Widows <I>(Olsynium douglasii)</I> are still hanging on in some spots, but will be gone soon. Common Camas <I>(Camassia quamash)</I> about to bloom <B>everywhere</B> along the paved loop. Upland Larkspur <I>(Delphinium nuttallianum)</I> starting to bloom on hillside next to upper trail (adjacent to creek). Lots of Miner's Lettuce <I>(Claytonia perfoliata)</I> about to bloom next to old corral. <P> Columbia Gorge Lupine <I>(Lupinus latifolius </I>var.<I> thompsonianus)</I>, Big-head Clover <I>(Trifolium macrocephalum)</I>, and Chocolate Lilies <I>(Fritillaria lanceolata)</I> are not yet blooming in forest near the power lines, but should be within a week or two.
