This is a great year for Bear grass <I>(Xerophyllum tenax)</i>, which is <B>everywhere</B>! Other profuse bloomers include: Western bistort <I>(Polygonum bistortoides)</I>, Broadleaf lupine <I>(Lupinus latifolius)</I>, Tiger lily <I>(Lilium columbianum)</I>, Western columbine <I>(Aquilegia formosa)</I>, Indian paintbrush <I>(Castilleja miniata)</I>, Mountain golden-pea <I>(Thermopsis montana)</I>, Cascade aster <I>(Aster ledophyllus)</I>, Long-beaked hawkweed <I>(Hieracium longiberbe)</I>, and Oregon sunshine <I>(Eriophyllum lanatum)</I>. <P> Also blooming: Subalpine mariposa lily <I>(Calochortus subalpinus)</I>, Woodland penstemon <I>(Nothochelone nemorosa)</I>, Nuttall's larkspur <I>(Delphinium nuttallii)</I>, Rosy spiraea <I>(Spiraea splendens)</I>, Sitka valerian <I>(Valeriana sitchensis)</I>, Oregon iris <I>(Iris tenax)</I>, Small-flowered paintbrush <I>(Castilleja parviflora)</I>, Thimbleberry <I>(Rubus parviflorus)</I>, Spreading phlox <I>(Phlox diffusa)</I>, Goat's beard <I>(Aruncus dioicus)</I>, Western serviceberry <I>(Amelanchier alnifolia)</I>, and Bunchberry <I>(Cornus unalaschkensis)</I>. <P> Blooming in forested areas at higher elevations: Queen's cup <I>(Clintonia uniflora)</I>, Foamflower <I>(Tierella trifoliata)</I>, and Avalanche lily <I>(Erythronium montanum)</I>.
